THE MOOD OF SHOES

How do you feel tonight? What impression are you trying to create? What crowd are you hanging out with? Even with a simple clothing palate of jeans and t-shirt, you can create entirely different impressions and moods. Black jeans and tee with red high heels will create an entirely different wardrobe and vibe than with the same clothes and tennis shoes… AND both choices, in the right situation can look equally smashing.

The key to maximizing your shoe and clothing wardrobe is not being afraid to mix things up. Take those fancy shoes from your brother’s wedding and pair them with your trendiest ripped jeans or a conservative shirt for work. And, there are certain stand-alone shoes that can create an impression or a mood that make the shoes a totally worthwhile investment.

BOOTS

OMG, no other footwear says carefree and easy-going, yet style conscious, as a beautifully crafted pair of boots, particularly when paired with a well-fitting pair of jeans. And, FOR MEN, we love quality booties that exude warmth and just enough style concern to show a man taking care of himself…. very impressive.

OLD LADY SANDALS

Let’s give a collective scream of disapproval for the old lady sandals often seen on young and old woman alike that are “comfortable” and look like they would outlast the next meteor blast on earth. The only mood these shoes are creating is – “I am living in the past and do not care or know enough about style to invest in a great pair of shoes or sandals”. So, don’t do this to yourself – take the time to do a little hunting and reap the rewards of cementing a great outfit with your shoe choice.

MARY JANES

Even though these shoes were first inspired by a 1902 comic strip called Buster Brown, and were worn by boys and girls, they have evolved to a chic, put-together and sophisticated shoe. They project a discerning style and a certain fearless quality. And, there is something for everyone to love, with low to high heels carrying you from casual to country club chic or straight to the boardroom. I love Mary Janes!

STATEMENT SHOES

Are you kidding me! No statement shoes – every wardrobe needs it! You will be not only the belle of the ball and the talk of the party – but you will feel totally badass! And, the sheer sway and confidence bringing this oeuvre d’art to the party – will be worth the sweat equity needed to pay for them!  And, if you bring out these big guns for only those special events – you will wow the crowd every time and this sweet shoe victory march will feel special every time.

So the moral of the mood of shoes is to pay attention to the total look that you are creating when you put on your shoes before leaving home. Try everything on, and scan yourself from head to toe. Always remember that shoes should complete and enhance, not detract or destroy your final look. And, remember, we can see your feet!
